A few weeks ago, members of the Woburn Fire Department laced up their skates and hit the ice for the annual Metro Fire Hockey Tournament! This weekend-long event brings together fire departments from across the region for some friendly (but competitive!) hockey action.

Woburn has always been a proud hockey city, and our department is no exception—we’ve got no shortage of talent when it comes to the rink. It was a great time for camaraderie, competition, and community.

Meet the Newest Addition to Our Fleet!

We’re proud to introduce our new Brush Truck, now officially in service! Designed for tough terrain and tight spaces, this specialized vehicle allows us to respond more effectively to incidents in wooded areas and locations where our larger engines can’t reach.

Built for all four seasons, this truck will enhance our ability to protect the city of Woburn and our surrounding communities year-round.

Huge thanks to everyone involved in getting this truck ready and operational—great job by the entire team!

A Heartfelt Thank You to James (Jimmy) Greelish
Today, we honor and thank Jimmy for his nearly 50 years of dedicated service as an Auxiliary Firefighter. From his time with the Wakefield Auxiliary in the 1970s to leading the Woburn Auxiliary from 2009 until its disbandment, his commitment has been unwavering.
For the last 15 years, Jimmy served as the last member of the Woburn Auxiliary, reporting directly to the Fire Chief, and played an integral role in the department’s work. His dedication to the community and his fellow firefighters has been an inspiration to us all.
Thank you, Jimmy, for your incredible service, your leadership, and your friendship. The fire service is stronger because of you. Stay safe, and we wish you all the best in your next chapter. We’ll see you on the other side of the yellow tape.

Earlier today, Woburn firefighters responded swiftly to a structure fire and immediately transmitted a second alarm on arrival. Thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of our brave first responders. Woburn, Reading, Stoneham, Winchester, Burlington, and Medford worked together to knock down the fire. 2/20/25 At approx 9:45am Woburn Fire struck box 931 for the report of a rollover on 93 North in the area of the Clover Leaf. E2, E4, T1, SH6, C3 and R1 responded. Upon arrival crews found multiple vehicles with heavy damage and two patients entrapped in their cars. Firefighters from Stoneham and Medford as well as Mass State Police, Armstrong Ambulance and Action Ambulance were also working on scene. Four patients in total were transported to a nearby trauma center. Woburn Fire Group 2 was on duty.
