About Us

The Woburn Fire Department was organized and established in 1851. Today the city of Woburn is home to 40+ thousand residents, a Pond with walking trails and parks, 13 hotels, 2 major highways, railway, a regional transportation center, and many major industries. The city is growing rapidly with many more new developments in the works. The Fire Department covers nearly 13 sq miles with 5 fire stations and 77 full-time firefighters. Woburn Fire staffs 3 engines and 1 arial with 2 full time BLS ambulances as well as doing its own 911 dispatch. The Woburn Fire Departments mission is to provide the citizens of Woburn and everyone who works in Woburn, stays here at one of our hotels, or passes thru on the highway, a safe and comfortable community through timely and skilled response to fire, public safety, and medical emergencies- efforts continually supported and advanced by our Fire Prevention, Fire Investigation, Educational programs and our Training Division.

The boat is currently housed inside the old pump house at Horn Pond. This boat is stored indoors. When a water emergency is reported, a box alarm is struck. The companies respond to the boat house and the boat is towed out of the building to the loading ramp by an old UTV that was donated to us years ago by the Cambridge Fire Department. This UTV is also used to aid crews for emergencies reported on the walking trails at Horn Pond Mountain.

Mutual Aid Partners

Paramedics

The Woburn Fire Department does not operate at the ALS level. A private ambulance company is contracted to provide the city with paramedics as well as backup BLS ambulances. Armstrong Ambulance Service out of Arlington, MA currently provides this service. Currently these resources are non dedicated to the city and are only provided “when available.” Woburn Fire relies heavily on the surrounding communities for mutual medical aid ALS ambulances and ALS intercepts. We’d like to thank all our mutual aid partners and communities for their continuous support.
