The boat is currently housed inside the old pump house at Horn Pond. This boat is stored indoors. When a water emergency is reported, a box alarm is struck. The companies respond to the boat house and the boat is towed out of the building to the loading ramp by an old UTV that was donated to us years ago by the Cambridge Fire Department. This UTV is also used to aid crews for emergencies reported on the walking trails at Horn Pond Mountain.

Mutual Aid Partners

Paramedics

The Woburn Fire Department does not operate at the ALS level. A private ambulance company is contracted to provide the city with paramedics as well as backup BLS ambulances. Armstrong Ambulance Service out of Arlington, MA currently provides this service. Currently these resources are non dedicated to the city and are only provided “when available.” Woburn Fire relies heavily on the surrounding communities for mutual medical aid ALS ambulances and ALS intercepts. We’d like to thank all our mutual aid partners and communities for their continuous support.

Congratulations to Our Newest Firefighters!

We are proud to announce that five dedicated individuals have successfully graduated from the Mass Fire Academy and are now officially on probationary status with our department!

Over the next few weeks, they’ll be putting their newly acquired knowledge to the test as they learn the ropes of the Woburn Fire Department. From mastering the ins and outs of ambulance operations to understanding dispatch, engine, and tower company procedures—there’s a lot to absorb, but we have no doubt they’ll rise to the challenge.

As they embark on this exciting journey, we want to wish them all the best in their careers. We’re thrilled to have them join our team and can’t wait to see the amazing things they’ll achieve. Welcome aboard, and here’s to a future filled with growth, learning, and service!

Woburn Fire Department Annual Ice Rescue Training

This week, the Woburn Fire Department conducted its annual ice rescue training, beginning on Tuesday with a review of procedures for responding to ice rescue calls. The team started by opening the rescue boat at headquarters, ensuring all equipment was in working order and revisiting the proper operational techniques. Members then donned ice rescue suits for a refresher on their usage and the necessary safety protocols.

On Thursday, the team headed to Horn Pond, where they used saws and hand tools to create an ice hole, simulating real-life rescue conditions. Once a member entered the water, various rescue teams were deployed, utilizing different types of equipment and training scenarios to practice a range of potential rescue situations.

After completing the training, the team returned to the station, carefully inspected the equipment, and ensured everything was properly stored and ready for future calls #woburnfire #icerescue #newenglandfiredept #pffm #iaff
As we reflect on the year, we’re proud to share the statistics of our department’s response efforts. Each number represents our commitment to providing timely, effective, and compassionate service to our community—24/7, 365 days a year.

We are deeply committed to ensuring the highest level of care and responsiveness for every emergency, big or small. Our team continuously works to improve, adapt, and rise to any challenge that comes our way.

As we step into 2025, we want to take a moment to thank our community for your unwavering support. Your trust means everything to us, and it’s what drives us to give our best every single day.

Here’s to another year of dedication, teamwork, and service. Together, we make a difference.
